Description

A replacement sustain block for Floyd Rose Original series tremolos, machined from granite. The block sits below the base plate and transfers string energy into the body — the material it is made from changes the character of that transfer. This one is cut from granite, which has a different density and atomic structure than the zinc or brass blocks the system originally shipped with. The granite is not processed or treated before machining.

Fit comes down to two things: block length and mounting screw pattern. At 42mm, this block has to physically clear your body cavity — if the cavity is too shallow, the block bottoms out before you finish a dive. If the cavity is deeper but the block is too short, the springs will sit at the wrong angle and the bridge will not return to pitch reliably. This block is larger than a conventional sustain block, which means a floating setup may require routing in the spring cavity to accommodate it. Measure your cavity before ordering. The mounting screw pattern also has to match your base plate — confirm this is an Original series base plate, not a Special or a copy.

The block ships with stainless steel mounting screws. The granite used is Volcano Black Absolute, with a compression strength of 19,000 psi and a tension strength of 700 psi. Because this block is wider than a standard unit, it can also be used in a blocked configuration — set to rest against the body to limit upward travel.

If you are not certain this is the right block for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will check it against what we have on the bench.
