Description

This is a replacement sustain block for Floyd Rose Original series tremolos, machined from granite. The block sits below the base plate and takes the load from the springs; swapping the material changes how the attack transfers from string to body. Granite is the material here — no coatings, no composites. The block ships with stainless steel mounting screws.

Before ordering, measure your body cavity and your existing block. The block length has to clear the cavity through the full range of motion — too long and it bottoms out mid-dive, too short and the springs sit at the wrong angle and pull unevenly. The mounting screw pattern also has to match your base plate exactly. This block is 32mm and is built for the Floyd Rose Original series. If your base plate is a different series or a licensed copy, check the screw pattern before assuming it will drop in.

The granite used here is Volcano Black Absolute Granite. Its compression strength is 19,000 psi / 130,000 kpa and its tension strength is 700 psi / 4,800 kpa. When installing, do not use a drill — start the centre screw by hand, then the outer screws, and work the pattern down gradually. The anchors are a soft lead alloy; overtightening will strip them. Do not use ammonia-based cleaners on the block surface.

If you are not certain this is the right block for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will check it against what we have on the bench.
