The Floyd Rose SL512RP is the locking nut designed specifically for the Speedloader tremolo system. It clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, which is what lets the bridge float freely without the strings slipping out of tune. This part does not cross over to standard Floyd Rose systems — the Speedloader uses a different string termination design and the nut is built to match it.

Fit is decided by two numbers: nut slot width and fretboard radius. This nut is cut for a 1.75 inch neck width and a 12 inch radius. If your fretboard radius is flatter than 12 inches, the outer strings will sit proud of the nut and buzz. If the neck width at the nut slot is narrower, the strings crowd the fretboard edge. Floyd Rose sizes its nuts in an R-series designation — R2, R3, R4 and so on — and those designations do not tell you the whole story on their own. Measure the width of your existing nut slot and know your fretboard radius before ordering. Do not guess from the model name alone.

The nut is machined from hardened steel. That matters because the clamping blocks bear down on the strings under considerable tension every time the locking screws are tightened, and softer materials deform at the contact points over time, which introduces the tuning drift the locking nut is supposed to prevent.
