Description

The Floyd Rose SL39RP is a replacement locking nut for the Speedloader series tremolo system. Its job is to clamp the strings at the headstock end, removing that anchor point from the tuning equation so the bridge can float without the nut pulling strings sharp or flat. This part is hardened steel — the same material as the original — and is a direct replacement for a worn, stripped or damaged Speedloader nut rather than a generic substitute.

Fit is determined by two measurements working together: neck width at the nut slot and fretboard radius. This nut is cut for a neck width of 1.6875 in (42.86 mm) and a 9.5-inch radius. A radius that is too flat leaves the outer strings sitting proud of the saddle surface and buzzing; too narrow a width and the outer strings crowd the fretboard edge. Floyd Rose sizes its nuts in a numbered series — R2, R3, R4 and so on — so do not order from the guitar model name alone. Pull the old nut and measure it, or measure the slot width and check the fretboard radius, before ordering.

Hardened steel resists the deformation that soft alloy blocks develop over time. A nut that has been over-torqued, cross-threaded or simply worn through years of string changes will stop returning to centre; this is the direct replacement rather than a workaround.

If you are not certain this is the right nut for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will confirm the fit before you order.
