The string retainer bar sits between the locking nut and the tuning machines. Its job is to pull the strings down at an angle over the nut so the locks can grip them cleanly. Without enough downward pressure, a hard dive will unseat a string from the nut mid-song. This is the Floyd Rose Special series retainer, steel, satin gold finish, supplied with its mounting screws.

Fit is determined by two things: series compatibility and mounting hole spacing. This retainer is cut for the Floyd Rose Special series — the hole spacing is specific to that system and will not drop straight onto a non-Special Floyd Rose without modification. The retainer height also affects break angle directly; if the angle over your nut feels marginal, check whether a shim is already in place before ordering a replacement, because swapping the retainer alone will not fix a cavity that sits the whole assembly too low. Measure your existing retainer and match it.

The retainer is steel with a satin gold plate. Satin gold is not the same as aged gold or polished gold — the surface is a flat, matte finish. If your existing hardware is a different gold tone, the retainer may not be a visual match.
