The string retainer bar sits between the locking nut and the tuning machines. Its job is to pull the strings down across the nut at enough of an angle that the locking blocks can grip them cleanly. Without that break angle, strings lift under a hard dive and lose contact with the nut before the locks can hold them. This is the Floyd Rose Special version, supplied with its mounting screws.

Fit is not universal. The retainer has to match the mounting hole spacing already drilled into your headstock for the Special series. Height is what sets the break angle — change it with the wrong shim and you shift that angle, which affects how reliably the nut locks. If the retainer sitting on your guitar is not a Special-series part, this one will not drop in. Measure your existing hole spacing and confirm the series before ordering.

This retainer is steel with a black finish, matching the standard hardware specification for the Floyd Rose Special. Steel here matters because the retainer bears string tension continuously; softer materials wear at the mounting points and let the bar shift over time.
