This is the locking nut that clamps the strings at the headstock end of a Floyd Rose Special tremolo system. When the nut locks down, it takes string tension out of the equation above the zero fret, which is the whole reason a floating bridge can return to pitch. If your current nut is stripped, cracked, or missing a clamping block, this is the direct replacement part. It is finished in satin gold to match Special-series hardware.

Before ordering, measure your existing nut — do not guess from the guitar model alone. A locking nut has to match two things: the width of the neck at the nut slot, and the fretboard radius. Floyd Rose sizes its nuts by width designations (R2, R3, R4 and so on). This is the R2 size. Too narrow and the strings crowd the fretboard edge; too flat a radius and the outer strings sit proud of the clamping block and will never clamp clean. Close-but-wrong buzzes forever. Measure the nut slot width and the radius of your board before you order.

The nut is made from spot-hardened steel. The hardening matters because the clamping screws bear down on the same surfaces every time you lock up — soft material wears out of square and stops seating the strings consistently.
