This is the locking nut that clamps the strings at the headstock end of a Floyd Rose Special tremolo system. When the nut clamp screws are tightened, the strings are locked in place and the tuners become redundant — pitch is then held by the bridge block and the fine tuners alone. If your existing nut has stripped clamp screws, a cracked block, or a surface too worn to seat cleanly, this is the part that puts the system back to work.

Fit is not a guess. A locking nut has to match both the width of your neck at the nut slot and the radius of your fretboard. Too flat a radius and the outer strings sit proud of the nut face and buzz. Too narrow and the strings crowd the edge of the board. Floyd Rose sizes its nuts by width code — R2, R3, R4 and so on. This is an R2. Before ordering, pull the existing nut and confirm both its width code and that R2 is the correct size for your neck. Do not order from the model name; measure.

The nut body is spot-hardened steel with a satin black finish. Spot hardening puts the hardness where the strings bear against the metal, which is where soft nuts wear out and start slipping. This part is built for the Floyd Rose Special series.
