This is the locking nut that clamps your strings at the headstock end of a Floyd Rose Special tremolo system. When the nut clamps down, it removes the headstock tuners from the tuning equation entirely — the string is locked between the nut block and the saddle, with the fine tuners doing all subsequent pitch work. If your existing nut is stripped, cracked, or missing its clamping blocks, this is the direct replacement for the Special series. Finish is black nickel.

Fit is decided by two things: the width of your nut slot and the radius of your fretboard. Floyd Rose sizes its nuts by width designation — this is an R2. Get that wrong and you either crowd the outer strings toward the fretboard edge or leave them sitting proud, and either way you are chasing a buzz you cannot cure. Do not order by guitar model. Pull the old nut, measure the slot width, confirm the radius, and match the R-number to what you have. If the original nut is already gone, measure the slot in the neck.

The nut is made from spot-hardened steel — the clamping surfaces are hardened where the string contact occurs, which is where an unhardened nut wears and loses grip. This is a Floyd Rose Special series part; it is not interchangeable with Original series or other series nuts, which use different geometry.
