The string retainer bar mounts behind the locking nut and pulls the strings down across it at the correct break angle. Without enough angle, strings will lift out of the nut blocks under a hard dive or a sharp pull-up. This is the Floyd Rose Special series replacement, finished in antique silver, and it comes with the mounting screws.
Fit is decided by two things: series compatibility and mounting hole spacing. This retainer is cut for the Floyd Rose Special series. If the system on your guitar is a different Floyd Rose series — Original, Pro, 1000 — the hole pattern will not match. Before ordering, confirm the series marked on your existing retainer or bridge plate. If you have already changed the retainer height with shims, note that a different retainer height changes the break angle, which changes how firmly the nut blocks grip the strings.
The retainer is steel. The antique silver finish matches Special series hardware in that colour. Screws are included.
If you are not certain this is the right retainer for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will check it against what we have on the bench.
