The string retainer sits between the locking nut and the tuning machines, pressing the strings down to hold the break angle across the nut. Without adequate break angle, the nut cannot grip cleanly — strings work loose under a hard dive and won't return to pitch. This is the Floyd Rose Special version, steel construction with an antique bronze finish, and it ships with the mounting screws.

Fit is decided by two things. First, the mounting hole spacing is specific to the Floyd Rose Special series — it will not drop into the same positions as a Original or 1000 series retainer. Second, the height of the retainer above the headstock sets the break angle; if the angle was wrong before, swapping to this part alone may not fix it. Measure the existing break angle before ordering. If you are running shims under the current retainer, note their thickness — you may need to carry them over or adjust them.

The steel construction is standard for this part. The antique bronze finish matches Special series hardware in that colour family. Inspect the old retainer's screws before discarding it: stripped threads in the headstock are a separate repair job.
