The Floyd Rose Special FRS2NR2ASP is a replacement locking nut for Floyd Rose Special tremolo systems. It clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, which is what lets the bridge float freely without the strings pulling sharp or flat at the nut. When the original nut strips a screw thread, cracks, or simply wears to the point where it no longer clamps cleanly, this is the part that puts it right.
Fit is decided by two measurements, not by the guitar model name. First, the width of your existing nut slot — Floyd Rose sizes its nuts by width designation (R2, R3, R4 and so on), and this is an R2. Second, the radius of your fretboard. A nut that is too flat for your radius will leave the outer strings sitting proud of the clamping surface and buzzing regardless of how hard you torque the blocks down. Pull the old nut and measure both before ordering. If the original nut is already gone, measure the slot width at the neck and check the fretboard radius with a gauge.
The nut is made from spot-hardened steel with an Antique Silver finish, matching the Special series hardware. Spot hardening at the string contact points and block seating surfaces resists the wear that soft steel nuts develop under repeated clamping cycles.
If you are not certain this is the correct size for your neck, send us the make, model and year of your guitar and we will confirm the fit before you order.
