The Floyd Rose Original R-6 locking nut clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, removing that end of the string from the tuning equation entirely. Once the clamps are tightened, the string length between nut and saddle is sealed. It is a direct replacement for the R-6 nut on Floyd Rose Original, Pro, Non-Fine Tuner, and Hot Rod Series tremolos. Fit is decided by two measurements, not by the guitar model name. The nut has to match the width of your neck at the nut slot, and it has to match your fretboard radius. Get either of those wrong and the nut either crowds the outer strings toward the fretboard edge or sits with a radius too flat for the board — the outer strings will sit proud of the clamping block and buzz regardless of how the rest of the setup is dialled in. Floyd Rose designates nut widths by size code: R2, R3, R4, R6, and so on. The R-6 is one specific width. Measure the nut slot on your neck before ordering. Do not rely on the guitar model or the existing nut's cosmetic appearance.

The nut body is hardened steel. That matters on the clamping blocks specifically — softer metal strips at the screw seats and the blocks begin rocking, which kills the point of locking in the first place. The gold finish matches gold-hardware Floyd Rose Original series bridges.
