This is the Floyd Rose Original R-5 locking nut in gold finish, part number FRNR5GP. It clamps the strings at the headstock end of the nut slot, taking string tuning out of the equation at that end of the guitar so the tremolo system can do its job. Without a functioning locking nut, the bridge does the work alone and pitch stability falls apart.

Fit is the part that matters here. A locking nut has to match both the width of your neck at the nut slot and the radius of your fretboard. Get either wrong and you will chase a buzz you cannot fix. Too flat a radius and the outer strings sit proud of the block; too narrow and the strings crowd the fretboard edge. Floyd Rose designates nut width by a number — R2, R3, R4, R5 and so on. Do not order from the guitar model name. Pull the existing nut, measure the slot width, and match the R-number to that measurement. If the original nut is already missing, measure the slot in the neck directly.

The nut is hardened steel with a gold finish, matching gold-hardware Floyd Rose Original series bridges. It is a direct replacement for worn, cracked or stripped locking nuts in that series.
