This is the Floyd Rose Original R-6 locking nut in chrome. It clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, removing them from the tuning-machine circuit once the bridge is set to pitch. Without a functioning locking nut, a floating tremolo system cannot hold tune through heavy use — the nut is half the equation.

Fit is decided by two things: neck width at the nut slot and fretboard radius. Floyd Rose sizes its nuts by width designation — R2, R3, R4, R6 and so on — and a nut that is close but wrong will buzz permanently. Too flat a radius and the outer strings sit proud of the saddle surface; too narrow and the strings crowd the fretboard edge. Do not order by guitar model. Measure the nut slot width on your actual neck and confirm the radius before you buy.

This nut is hardened steel with a chrome finish, part of the Floyd Rose Original series. It is compatible with Original, Pro, Non-Fine Tuner and Hot Rod series Floyd Rose tremolo systems. Made in Germany.
