The Floyd Rose Original R-1 locking nut (FRNR1CP) clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, removing the nut from the tuning equation entirely. Once the blocks are torqued down, pitch changes travel through the trem only — the nut end is locked out. This is the chrome-finish version in the Original series, made from hardened steel and manufactured in Germany.

Fit is decided by two things: neck width at the nut slot and fretboard radius. Neither can be eyeballed. Floyd Rose grades its nuts by width — R1, R2, R3, R4 and so on — and the grade has to match what your neck actually measures, not what the guitar model is supposed to have. A nut that is even slightly too flat in radius will leave the outer strings sitting proud and buzzing; one that is too narrow crowds the strings toward the fretboard edge. Pull the old nut and measure before ordering.

This nut is compatible with Floyd Rose Original, Pro, Non-Fine Tuner, and Hot Rod series tremolo systems. The blocks and clamping screws are hardened steel — the same material as the nut body — which matters on a part that takes repeated torque across its working life.
