The base plate is the structural core of a Floyd Rose Original tremolo — the plate that the saddles, intonation block, string-lock hardware and tension plates all bolt to. Its most critical feature is the knife edges: two machined ridges that the plate rocks on. When those edges round over from use or from a pivot post set at the wrong height, the bridge stops returning to centre and no amount of spring adjustment or setup work recovers it. Replacing the plate is the fix.

This plate is cut for the Floyd Rose Original series specifically. Saddles, sustain blocks, string-lock screws and tension plates are dimensioned for their own series and do not cross over. Before ordering, confirm your existing hardware is Original-series. If you are pulling saddles or a block from another system to go onto this plate, measure against your old plate first — the parts will not simply swap.

Manufactured from hardened steel with a black finish. Hardened steel at the knife edges is what the pivot posts bear against thousands of times over the life of the guitar; softer material rounds faster and gives you the same pitch-return problem sooner.
