The base plate is the structural core of a Floyd Rose Original tremolo — the machined steel body that the saddles, sustain block, spring claw hardware and tension plates all bolt to. When a Floyd Rose stops returning to pitch and every setup adjustment has been exhausted, the knife edges are almost always the cause. They live on this plate. Once they round over or chip, the system cannot pivot cleanly and pitch stability goes with it. Replacing the plate is the fix.

Fit is not interchangeable across series or string counts. This plate is cut for the Floyd Rose Original series. Saddles, blocks, string-lock screws and tension plates from other series are not dimensioned for it and will not assemble correctly. Before ordering, confirm your existing unit is a genuine Floyd Rose Original — not a Special, 1000 series, Pro or a licensed copy. If the saddles, block or locking nut are already being replaced at the same time, they all need to match this series.

The plate is hardened steel with a gold finish, matching the Original series hardware in both material spec and colour. Hardened steel resists knife-edge wear longer than softer alloys, but the finish is a factor too — if your existing hardware is chrome or black, this plate will not match.
