The base plate is the structural core of a Floyd Rose Original 7-string tremolo. The saddles bolt to it, the sustain block hangs from it, and the knife edges are machined into it. When those knife edges round over — and on a heavily used bridge they will — the system stops returning to pitch. No spring adjustment or nut lubrication fixes a worn knife edge. The plate gets replaced.

Fit here is not flexible. This plate is cut for the Floyd Rose Original series in a 7-string configuration. The saddle spacing, block mounting, string-lock hardware and tension plate geometry are all specific to that series and that string count. A 6-string Original plate is a different part. A 7-string Special or Pro plate is a different part. If you are not certain which series your bridge is, pull the cover and find the series marking stamped into the block or plate before ordering.

The plate is hardened steel with a black finish, matching the Original series hardware standard. Hardened steel at the knife edge is what makes the contact point durable — softer material at that pivot rounds over faster and is the reason economy alternatives shorten service intervals.
