The Floyd Rose Original R-6 locking nut clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, removing them from the equation once the bridge is in tune. Without it — or with the wrong one — a floating tremolo has nothing to lock against, and every dive returns to a different pitch. This is a genuine Floyd Rose Original Series part, finished in black, made from hardened steel.

Fit is decided by two things: the width of the nut slot in your neck, and the radius of your fretboard. Get either one wrong and the nut will buzz or crowd the strings toward the fretboard edge, no matter how well it is seated. Floyd Rose designates nut width by number — R2, R3, R4, R6 and so on — so the R-6 designation here refers to a specific width. Do not order by guitar model or by what looks similar. Measure the nut slot in your neck and confirm the radius before ordering.

The body is hardened steel. The black finish is matched to the Original Series hardware. This nut is compatible with Floyd Rose Original, Pro, Non-Fine Tuner, and Hot Rod Series tremolo systems.
