The Floyd Rose Original R-2 locking nut (FRNR2BP) clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, locking them in place so pitch changes happen entirely at the bridge. Without this clamp, a floating tremolo cannot hold tune. This is a hardened steel nut finished in black, part of the Floyd Rose Original series.

Fit is decided by two things: the width of the nut slot cut into your neck, and the radius of your fretboard. Floyd Rose sizes its locking nuts by width — R2, R3, R4, and so on — and the R2 is one specific width. If you order by model name rather than measurement, you are guessing. A nut that is too narrow crowds the outer strings toward the fretboard edge. A nut with too flat a radius leaves the outer strings sitting proud of the clamping block, and no amount of setup work will stop them buzzing. Measure the nut slot on the guitar before ordering.

The nut is machined from hardened steel, which matters at this location — the clamping screws bear directly against the string, and soft material wears out the saddle seat. The black finish matches Original series hardware.
