The Floyd Rose Original R-1 locking nut clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, removing the nut from the tuning equation entirely. Once the blocks are tightened, tuning changes travel through the bridge only — which is the whole point of a double-locking system. This is the Original Series nut, made in Germany from hardened steel with a black finish, part number FRNR1BP. It is compatible with Floyd Rose Original, Pro, Non-Fine Tuner, and Hot Rod Series tremolo systems.

Before ordering, measure your existing nut — do not guess from the guitar model name. A locking nut has to match two things at once: the width of your neck at the nut slot, and the radius of your fretboard. Get either of those wrong and the outer strings will either sit proud of the clamping block or crowd the fretboard edge, and no amount of setup work fixes that. Floyd Rose designates nut widths by size code — R1, R2, R3, R4 and so on. This listing is for the R-1 size specifically. The nut body is hardened steel, which resists the clamping load and the lateral string pull without deforming over time. Soft metal at the nut slot is a common failure point on cheaper systems; hardened steel avoids that.
