The sustain block hangs below the base plate and anchors the tremolo springs. This is a 42mm tungsten block built to the Original Floyd Rose specification. Tungsten is significantly denser than brass or titanium, which means more mass in a body that fits a standard spring cavity — this block is described as a direct replacement for the stock sustain block. Because the block is larger than a conventional sustain block, it can limit upward travel of the tremolo; factor that in before you order if you rely on upward pitch bend.

The fit decision comes down to two things. First, block length has to clear your body cavity — too long and the block bottoms out before you complete a dive; too short and the springs sit at the wrong angle. Second, the mounting screw pattern has to match your base plate. This is an Original-series block; if your bridge is not an Original-series Floyd Rose base plate, measure and confirm the pattern before ordering. Changing the block material does not change whether it physically fits.

Tungsten is harder than steel. Hard, dense materials resist absorbing string energy into the block itself. The failure mode on a worn steel or brass block is gradual — you lose clarity and note separation before you notice the decay. Tungsten's hardness also means the string-lock screw seats do not deform under clamping torque the way softer alloys can.
