The FROFTBL42 is a 42mm brass sustain block in an L-shaped profile, designed as a direct replacement or upgrade block for Floyd Rose Original series tremolo units. The L adds material into the space beneath the tremolo arm — space that a standard rectangular block leaves empty. More brass mass means the block transfers string vibration longer before it damps out. The brass itself shifts the character of the attack toward a warmer, clearer sound with more definition in the midrange, which is why luthiers have reached for brass over steel or zinc when chasing that particular quality.

Before you order, the block length has to clear your body cavity. At 42mm this block is larger than a stock block — if your cavity is tight, it will bottom out mid-dive rather than returning to pitch. Too short a block and the springs sit at the wrong angle and pull inconsistently. Measure your existing block and your cavity depth before fitting. The mounting screw pattern also has to match your base plate; this is an Original series block, so confirm your base plate is Original series spec. The L-profile may also limit upward travel, which can work in your favour if you want a blocked configuration — but if you run floating, check whether your spring cavity needs routing to clear the extra material.

Brass is heavier and softer than the zinc alloy used in most OEM blocks. It will not corrode in normal use, but it machines and threads differently, so do not overtorque the saddle screws when you reinstall. The finish here is bare brass — it will develop a patina over time.
