The FROTuB42 is a 42mm tungsten sustain block for Floyd Rose Original series bridges. It replaces the stock block that hangs below the base plate and anchors the tremolo springs. The reason to swap it is mass and hardness: tungsten is denser than brass or titanium, which means more string vibration stays in the bridge rather than bleeding off through the springs. The block is the same thickness as the standard Floyd Rose sustain block, so it drops into an Original-series base plate without modification to the plate itself.

Before ordering, measure your body cavity. Block length has to clear the routed cavity through the full range of travel — too long and the block bottoms out before the bridge completes a dive; too short and the springs sit at the wrong angle and the geometry is off. You also need to confirm the mounting screw pattern on this block matches your existing base plate. The material change here is tungsten instead of whatever is in your current block — that does not affect whether it physically fits, but the cavity depth and the screw pattern do. If you have not measured the cavity depth with the old block in place, do that first.

Tungsten's hardness is relevant to the failure mode of softer blocks: brass and mild steel blocks can develop wear at the spring-claw contact points and at the string saddle seats over time. Tungsten resists that. The trade-off is that tungsten is not a field-serviceable material — if you damage the block, you replace it.
