The sustain block is the mass hanging below the Floyd Rose base plate that the springs anchor against. This one is tungsten, 32mm, and fits the Original series. The job of the block is to resist the energy the springs want to absorb — a denser block keeps more of that vibration in the bridge rather than letting the springs dissipate it. Tungsten is harder than steel and more than twice as dense as brass, so at 32mm it adds significant mass without requiring a larger footprint than the Original spec allows.

Before ordering, measure your body cavity. Block length has to clear the cavity through the full range of tremolo travel — too long and the block bottoms out before you complete a dive; too short and the springs sit at the wrong angle and the geometry breaks down. The mounting screw pattern also has to match your base plate exactly. If you are swapping in this block, confirm both the cavity depth and the screw spacing on your current base plate before you pull anything apart.

One thing to be aware of: this is a fat-profile block, meaning it is thicker than a standard Floyd Rose block. That additional thickness can limit upward travel of the arm, depending on how your cavity is routed. If you are running the bridge set for significant upward pull, check the clearance on the upswing as well as the downswing.
