This is the sustain block that hangs below the base plate of a Floyd Rose Original series bridge. It replaces the factory steel block with a brass unit. The block is 37mm and cut to the fat profile, which means more mass than the standard block. More mass changes the attack — brass tends to push warmth and note definition in opposite directions at once, which is why technicians reach for it when a build feels thin or when chords are losing separation.

Before ordering, measure your spring cavity. Block length has to clear the body cavity completely: too long and the block bottoms out mid-dive; too short and the springs sit at the wrong angle and the bridge will not return to pitch reliably. The mounting screw pattern also has to match the base plate you are bolting it to. This block is listed for the Floyd Rose Original series. It will not fit the 1000 Series 7-String or the Special 7-String — those systems use a different mounting hole spacing and can only run their factory blocks. Measure before you order, not after.

Because the fat profile is wider than a conventional sustain block, it can make contact with the body at the top of the travel range. A floating setup may need routing in the spring cavity to give the block clearance. If you are running a blocked bridge configuration, that contact point can work in your favour.
