This is the Floyd Rose Original Fat Brass L Block — part number FROFTBL32 — a 32mm sustain block machined in brass for Floyd Rose Original series tremolo units. The L-shape is the functional point: it extends into the space beneath the tremolo arm that a standard rectangular block leaves empty, adding mass in a location that does not interfere with the base plate footprint. More mass in the block means the string vibration has more material to transfer into. Brass as a material tends to push the attack toward warmth and sustain rather than the harder transient of a steel block.

Fit is decided by two things before anything else. First, cavity clearance: the block has to move freely through its full arc without bottoming out in the spring cavity on a dive or binding on the body on pull-up. This block is 32mm and carries extra material in the L extension — measure your cavity before ordering, because routing may be required for a floating setup. Second, the mounting screw pattern has to match your base plate. If you are fitting this to anything other than a Floyd Rose Original series base plate, verify hole spacing against your existing block before you pull the trigger. The L geometry can also limit upward travel, which makes it suitable for a blocked bridge configuration.

The block ships in a brass finish. Brass work-hardens at the saddle contact points over time; if your original steel block has stripped or deformed threads, brass does not solve that — check the saddle seats and string lock screws separately before assuming the block is the fault.
