A steel shim that sits under a Floyd Rose Original locking nut to raise its seating height. When a nut slot has been cut too deep — or when the neck angle puts the nut face below where it needs to be — the strings run at the wrong angle through the clamp blocks and the system loses consistent return-to-pitch. This shim corrects that by packing the nut up in its slot.

Fitting a locking nut shim correctly depends on the nut already being the right match for the guitar. The locking nut has to correspond to the neck width at the nut slot and the fretboard radius. Floyd Rose sizes Original series nuts by width code — R2, R3, R4 and so on. If the nut sitting in the guitar now is the wrong code, adding a shim will not fix it. Measure the existing nut before ordering anything.

This shim is 0.02 in thickness and is made from steel. It is part of the Original series. If you are stacking shims to reach a target height, measure the gap between the nut base and the slot floor first so you know how many and which thicknesses you need.
