This is the shim that sits between the sustain block and the base plate on a Floyd Rose Original tremolo. Its job is positional: it adjusts the block's effective length, which changes the resting angle of the bridge and the tension geometry of the springs behind it. If your block is bottoming out in the cavity before the bridge returns to level, or if your springs are pulling at the wrong angle and you cannot get the bridge to sit flat no matter how you adjust spring tension, a shim here is often the fix before you start swapping the block itself.

Fit is a two-part check. First, measure your body cavity: total block length — including this shim — has to clear the cavity at full dive without bottoming out, and has to leave the springs at a working angle when the bridge is at rest. Too much total length and the block hits wood mid-dive; too little and the spring angle goes wrong. Second, the shim has to match the screw pattern of your specific Original Series base plate. This part is made for the Original Series; confirm that is what you have before ordering.

The shim is steel, which matches the block material on most Original Series builds. Swapping to a different shim material would change attack character slightly, but material does not affect whether the part physically clears the cavity — that comes down to dimensions and screw pattern alone.
