The Floyd Rose Special FRTSSS4000 is a complete 7-string double-locking tremolo system — bridge plate, saddles, sustain block, locking nut, springs, claw, mounting studs, and all installation hardware in one kit. It is designed to hold a 7-string to pitch through full-range dive-bomb and upward pull, with the string-lock working at both the nut and the saddle to take tuning machines out of the equation entirely. The Special series is manufactured in Korea for Floyd Rose and follows the Original's geometry and design, using a spot-hardened steel base plate and steel arm, springs, and screws. Saddles and sustain block are zinc alloy rather than the brass block and steel saddles found on the Original.
String count and mounting style are the two hard constraints here. This unit carries 7 strings — it will not work on a 6-string or 8-string instrument. Beyond that, a double-locking recessed system requires a rear cavity routed into the body and a top-mount system does not, so the existing route in your guitar, the stud spacing, and the neck angle all have to be right before this drops in. Replacing a non-locking bridge with a locking system is a routing job. Measure your existing stud spacing and check what your body already has routed before ordering.
The zinc alloy block and saddles are the material difference between this and the Original series. Zinc alloy is lighter than brass and cuts differently under the blade — if you're replacing a brass-block unit and want to stay there, this is not a like-for-like swap. If you're building on a blank route or replacing another zinc-block Special, the materials match.
