The Floyd Rose Special FRTSSS3000 is a complete 7-string double-locking tremolo system finished in gold. It ships as a full kit: bridge, locking nut, springs and claw, mounting studs, and all installation hardware. Nothing else to source. The Special series is made in Korea for Floyd Rose and holds the same geometry as the Original, with zinc alloy saddles and a zinc alloy sustain block in place of the steel and brass used in the Original. The baseplate is spot-hardened steel. The arm and springs are steel.
String count and routing are the two things that kill a swap before it starts. This is a 7-string unit — it will not string a 6-string or 8-string guitar correctly. Beyond that, the guitar has to be routed for a recessed double-locking system: rear spring cavity, correct stud spacing for the posts, and a neck angle that works with the bridge sitting in a recess. If you are pulling a non-locking bridge off a flat-top guitar, this is not a drop-in — it is a routing job. If you are replacing a worn-out Floyd-style system on a guitar already cut for one, measure your stud spacing and block cavity clearance before ordering. Do not assume.
The zinc alloy block and saddles are a known trade in the Special series. Zinc is softer than brass or steel. On a guitar that sees heavy use, watch the saddle knife edges and the block over time — they wear faster than the Original's equivalents. That said, for a guitar that needs a working Floyd at a lower cost, the platform is solid and holds tune under normal playing and divebomb use.
