This kit contains everything needed to rebuild or upgrade a 7-string floating tremolo to the Floyd Rose Original Hot Rod specification in one order: bridge, locking nut, springs and claw, mounting studs, and all installation hardware. The Hot Rod Series shares the same dimensions as the FR Original 7-String, which means the block, baseplate and stud spacing are the same — the difference is in the materials. The block is a fat brass block rather than a standard steel one, and all screws are stainless steel made in the USA. The baseplate and saddles are hardened steel, the tremolo arm is stainless steel, and the springs are coiled steel. The unit is finished in chrome and manufactured in Germany.
A kit fits as a drop-in only if its footprint matches what is already in the guitar — same series dimensions, same string count, same stud spacing. This is a 7-string Original-footprint kit. If your guitar is currently running a different series, a different string count, or a bridge from a different manufacturer with different stud spacing, this is not a straight swap. Check what is actually installed before ordering; a dimensional mismatch turns a parts swap into a routing job.
The fat brass block is the primary reason players move to this kit over a standard Original rebuild. Brass is denser than the zinc or steel blocks found in lower-tier units, which changes how the bridge transfers energy into the body. If your existing block is worn, corroded or was never brass to begin with, this kit addresses that in the same purchase as the rest of the hardware.
