The Floyd Rose Special is a complete double-locking tremolo kit — bridge, saddles, sustain block, locking nut, springs and claw, mounting studs, and all installation hardware in one box. It is Floyd Rose's own design, built in Korea to their spec, not a third-party copy. The saddles and sustain block are zinc alloy rather than the steel and brass used in the Original series. The base plate is spot-hardened steel. The tremolo arm and springs are steel. Everything to mount and string the system is included.
String count and routing decide whether this fits your guitar before anything else does. This is a 6-string unit — it will not work on a 7 or 8-string. Beyond that, a recessed Floyd Rose installation requires a rear cavity routed into the body and a specific stud spacing and neck angle to sit at the correct height. If your guitar already runs a recessed double-locking system with the same stud spacing, this can be a direct swap. If your guitar has a non-locking bridge, fitting this is a routing job — body wood comes out, and the geometry has to be set from scratch. Measure your existing stud spacing and check your cavity dimensions before ordering.
The zinc alloy block is the main trade-off versus the Original series. Zinc is heavier than some aftermarket materials and lighter than brass. It is adequate for most players and holds up under regular use, but if you are replacing a block that failed, that is worth knowing going in. The satin gold finish is part number FRTS3000S specifically — other finishes carry different part numbers.
