The Floyd Rose Original Hot Rod Nickel Tremolo Kit (FRTC400SS) is a complete rebuild set for a six-string double-locking floating tremolo system. The kit covers the whole job in one order: bridge unit, locking nut, springs and claw, mounting studs, and the remaining hardware needed for installation. The Hot Rod series shares the same footprint as the Floyd Rose Original, with the distinction being a fat brass block in place of the standard block and stainless steel screws throughout. The baseplate and saddles are hardened steel. The block is brass. The arm and screws are stainless. Springs are coiled steel. The bridge is made in Germany; the stainless steel screws are made in the USA. Finish is nickel.
This kit only drops in without modification if the guitar already carries a bridge built to Original series dimensions — same stud spacing, same routing, same six-string layout. If what is in the guitar now is a different series, a licensed copy with different geometry, or a seven-string unit, this kit will not line up. Pull the existing bridge before ordering and confirm the series it belongs to. When in doubt, measure the stud spacing and block cavity clearance; do not guess.
The brass block is the main functional difference from a stock Original rebuild. Brass is denser than the zinc alloy used in some earlier blocks, which changes sustain characteristics and the overall feel of the return-to-pitch. The stainless steel screws resist corrosion and are less likely to round out under a hex key than plated alternatives — relevant if you are pulling saddles regularly for restringing.
