The Floyd Rose FRX (FRTX03000S) is a complete 6-string double-locking tremolo system built to surface-mount on guitars fitted with a Tune-O-Matic and stopbar tailpiece. The bridge, saddles, block, and locking nut ship together as one unit. Where a standard recessed Floyd Rose requires routing a cavity into the body, the FRX uses the guitar's existing bridge stud holes and mounts on top of the body. The locking nut installs behind the guitar's existing nut in place of the truss rod cover, fixed with two wood screws into holes you drill left and right. No rear route required.

Fit is decided by two things before anything else: string count and mounting geometry. This is a 6-string unit — it will not work for a 7- or 8-string guitar. Beyond that, the FRX is designed around the stud spacing and neck angle of Tune-O-Matic-equipped guitars. If your guitar currently has a recessed tremolo, this is not a drop-in replacement — the cavity and stud positions are a different problem. If your guitar has a neck angle that sits particularly low at the body, the spring tension transfer rod on the base plate may contact the body surface and require a small channel routed to clear it before the system will sit correctly. Measure your neck angle before ordering.

The bridge and hardware are steel, finished in satin gold. The satin finish reduces glare under stage lighting and shows handling marks less than a polished surface, but it will wear at contact points over time the same as any plated steel.
