The Floyd Rose FRX (FRTX04000) is a complete six-string double-locking tremolo system built for surface mounting. It includes the bridge, saddles, sustain block and locking nut as one unit. The system is designed to replace a Tune-O-Matic and stopbar setup using the guitar's existing stud holes — no rear routing required for the bridge itself. The locking nut mounts behind the existing nut, in the truss rod cover position, fixed with two wood screws into the headstock.

String count and mounting style are the two things that decide whether this fits your guitar. This is a six-string unit — it will not work on a seven- or eight-string. More critically, this is a top-mount system, not a recessed one. If your guitar already has a rear cavity routed for a recessed Floyd, this is the wrong part. If you are replacing a non-locking bridge, check the existing stud spacing and neck angle before ordering. On some guitars — certain LP Custom variants in particular — the neck angle is shallow enough that the spring tension transfer rod on the baseplate contacts the body, requiring a small channel to be routed before the system will sit flat. That is bench work, not a straight swap.

The bridge and block are steel with a nickel finish. Steel sustain blocks are heavier than the zinc alloy blocks found in lower-cost units and take longer to fatigue under repeated dive and pull use.
