The Floyd Rose FRX (FRTX05000) is a complete double-locking tremolo system built for guitars that were never routed for a recessed bridge. The kit includes bridge, saddles, block and locking nut as one unit. It is designed to swap directly onto guitars using a Tune-O-Matic and stopbar arrangement, using the existing stud holes. The locking nut mounts behind the existing nut in place of the truss rod cover, fixed with two wood screws. No rear routing is required.

String count and mounting style decide whether this fits. This is a 6-string unit — it will not work on a 7- or 8-string guitar. The direct-mount design means the guitar's existing stud holes, neck angle and body geometry all matter. Neck angle is the one that catches people: on some guitars the spring tension transfer rod on the baseplate sits below the bridge and can contact the body. If that happens, a small channel has to be routed. That is a bench job, not a parts swap. If you are moving from a non-locking bridge and your guitar was never routed for a Floyd-style system at all, measure your stud spacing and check your neck angle before ordering.

The system is steel throughout, finished in black nickel. Steel construction means the block and baseplate will wear the way the original Floyd Rose components do — no surprises if you have been inside one before.
