The pivot studs and body inserts the tremolo rocks on. When a Floyd Rose 1000 Series bridge drifts off pitch and the spring tension and string lock are already ruled out, these are the next thing to check. The knife edges sit directly on the stud shoulders — a stud that is worn, corroded or the wrong diameter means the bridge is rocking on an inconsistent surface, and tuning stability goes with it. Fit is decided by the insert already pressed into your body, not by the bridge. Stud and insert diameters differ between Floyd Rose series and between metric and imperial-routed bodies. If the insert in your guitar is not a 1000 Series insert, this stud will not seat correctly. Pulling an existing insert without damaging the wood is a bench job — if you are not certain what is in your guitar, measure the insert or bring it in before ordering.

Studs are hardened steel. That matters because the knife edges of a hardened Floyd Rose block work against them constantly. A soft stud wears a groove into its own shoulder over time and the bridge stops returning to centre. If you are chasing a pitch problem and the knife edges still look sharp, check the stud shoulders for wear before replacing the whole bridge.
