The pivot studs and body inserts the bridge rocks on. When a Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo stops returning to pitch and the spring tension, string gauge and locking nut are all ruled out, the knife edges and studs are the next place to look. These hardened steel studs and inserts — sold as a set of two — are the direct replacement for the 1000 Series system.

Fit is decided by what is already pressed into your body. The insert diameter is fixed once it is in the wood, and stud diameters are not consistent across Floyd Rose series or between metric and imperial bodies. Before ordering, confirm the insert currently in your guitar is the 1000 Series spec. If the old insert needs to come out, that is a bench job — pulling an insert without the right tool splits the wood around it. If you are not sure which insert is in there, measure the hole or send us the make, model and year and we will tell you.

Material is hardened steel with a satin black finish. Hardened steel matters here because the knife edges bear directly on the stud tops — a soft stud wears quickly and the rocking point becomes sloppy, which kills return-to-pitch consistency before the stud looks obviously damaged.
