Description

Ibanez built the S1070PBZCLB as part of the S Premium Series, positioning it toward players who demanded a feature-rich, high-specification instrument within the Premium tier of the S line. The model carried an HSH pickup configuration paired with a double-locking tremolo system, placing it firmly in the performance-oriented segment of the series.

The neck is a 11-piece Wizard construction using Panga Panga, Maple, Walnut, and Purpleheart, finished with a bound Panga Panga fretboard bearing Mother of Pearl off-set dot inlays and 24 Jumbo Stainless Steel frets with Premium fret edge treatment. The body pairs an African Mahogany core with a composite top stack of Poplar Burl, Walnut, Curly Maple, and Panga Panga at 16.5mm. Hardware is finished in Cosmo black throughout. The Edge-Zero II tremolo bridge with ZPS3Fe spring system operates at a 10.8mm string spacing over a 648mm (25.5") scale. Pickups are all passive Alnico units by DiMarzio: an Air Norton humbucker at the neck, a True Velvet single-coil in the middle, and The Tone Zone humbucker at the bridge. The nut measures 43mm wide; fretboard width reaches 58mm at the 24th fret. Neck thickness is 18mm at the first fret and 20mm at the twelfth, with a 400mmR fretboard radius. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario NYXL0942 strings (.009–.042).

Owners requiring replacement parts — particularly tremolo components, nut stock, or DiMarzio pickup wiring — should consult a qualified guitar technician, who can verify fit against the specific dimensions listed above.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
