Description

Ibanez built the SR2605CBB as part of the SR Premium Series, a five-string electric bass positioned in the upper tier of the SR line. The model carried a Poplar Burl top over an African Mahogany body, finished in Cerulean Blue Burst.

The neck was an Atlas-5 construction, assembled from fifteen pieces of Panga Panga, Maple, Paduak, Purpleheart, and Walnut, reinforced with KTS Titanium rods. The bound Panga Panga fretboard carried Abalone oval inlays across 24 medium Stainless Steel frets with premium edge treatment, set at a 305mm radius. Scale length ran 864mm (34 inches), with a nut width of 45mm and a 16.5mm string spacing at the MR5S bridge. The Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL nut and gold hardware completed the hardware fit. Pickups were a passive Nordstrand Big Single pair at neck and bridge positions, fed into an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch — passive tone control on the treble pot — and a 3-way mid-frequency switch. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL165 strings gauged .045/.065/.085/.105/.130 in standard B–E–A–D–G tuning.

Owners working on setup, fret maintenance, or sourcing replacement components such as the MR5S bridge saddles, Nordstrand Big Single pickups, or Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL nut blanks should consult a qualified bass technician or luthier familiar with multi-piece neck construction and stainless steel fretwork.

The owner archive

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
