Description

Ibanez positioned the SR2600CBB within the SR Premium Series, a tier of the long-running Soundgear bass line built to more exacting construction standards than the core range. The model carried a Cerulean Blue Burst finish over a Poplar Burl top on an African Mahogany body, and was strung as a four-string instrument in standard E-to-G tuning.

The neck was an Atlas-4 construction comprising fifteen pieces of Panga Panga, Maple, Paduak, Purpleheart, and Walnut, reinforced with KTS Titanium rods. A bound Panga Panga fretboard with Abalone oval inlays carried 24 medium Stainless Steel frets with a premium edge treatment, at a 305 mm radius. Nut width measured 38 mm, widening to 62 mm at the 24th fret; neck thickness ran 19.5 mm at the first fret and 21.5 mm at the twelfth. The 34-inch scale length fed into an MR5S bridge set at 19 mm string spacing. Electronics centred on a pair of passive Nordstrand Big Single pickups at neck and bridge positions, fed into an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch — the treble pot doubling as a passive tone control in bypass mode — and a 3-way mid-frequency selector. Hardware throughout was finished in gold. The instrument shipped strung with D'Addario EXL165 strings (.045/.065/.085/.105), and the nut was a Graph Tech Black TUSQ XL.

Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the MR5S bridge, Graph Tech Black TUSQ XL nut format, and Nordstrand Big Single pickup dimensions are the primary reference points for hardware compatibility; a qualified guitar technician or luthier can advise on exact fit for any replacement components.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
