Ibanez built the RG470AHMBMT as part of the RG Series, positioning it as a high-performance solid-body electric guitar finished in Blue Moon Burst. The RG line was long associated with fast, flat-radius necks and tremolo-equipped platforms aimed at technically demanding playing styles, and the RG470AHM sat within that tradition.
The guitar is constructed with an ash body and carries a Wizard III maple neck with a maple fretboard dressed with black dot inlays. Twenty-four jumbo frets run along a 400mm radius board, with a 648mm (25.5") scale length. Nut width measures 43mm, widening to 58mm at the 24th fret, with neck thickness of 19mm at the first fret and 21mm at the 12th. A locking nut pairs with a double locking tremolo bridge — string spacing set at 10.5mm — completing the floating tremolo system. The pickup complement is a Quantum HSH arrangement: ceramic-loaded Quantum (H) humbuckers at neck and bridge positions and an alnico-loaded Quantum (S) single-coil in the middle, all passive. Hardware throughout is finished in cosmo black. The guitar left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL120s (.009–.042) in standard E tuning.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the double locking tremolo bridge accepts components dimensioned to its 10.5mm string spacing, and the 43mm locking nut width will determine compatible locking nut replacements. A qualified guitar technician can assist with tremolo setup, nut replacement, and fretwork on the jumbo-fret maple board.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
