Ibanez built the GRX70QATBB as part of the GRX70QA model within the RG Gio series, positioning it as an entry-level double-humbucker-with-single-coil electric guitar wearing a Transparent Blue Burst finish over a quilted maple art grain top.
The guitar's poplar body carries a bound Purpleheart fretboard with white dot inlays and 22 medium frets across a 648 mm (25.5") scale. The neck profile is the GRX maple neck, measuring 42 mm at the nut and 57 mm at the 22nd fret, with a 305 mm radius and thickness of 19.5 mm at the first fret tapering to 21.5 mm at the twelfth. A T106 tremolo bridge with 10.5 mm string spacing handles pitch shifting, and all hardware is finished in chrome. The HSH pickup configuration pairs Infinity R humbuckers at the neck and bridge positions with an Infinity RS single-coil in the middle; all three are passive ceramic units. The instrument left the factory strung to standard E-to-E tuning with a .009–.042 gauge set.
Owners requiring replacement parts — including bridge saddles compatible with the T106 tremolo, Purpleheart fretboard care products, or pickup replacements matching the Infinity R and RS footprints — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier for fit confirmation before ordering.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
