Ibanez built the RG421AHMBMT as part of the RG Series, positioning it as a solidbody electric guitar centred on the long-running RG platform. The model carried a Blue Moon Burst finish over an ash body, with a Wizard III maple neck and a maple fretboard dressed with black dot inlays.
The guitar featured 24 jumbo frets on a 400mm radius board, with a nut width of 43mm tapering to 58mm at the 24th fret. Neck thickness measured 19mm at the first fret and 21mm at the twelfth. The 648mm (25.5") scale fed into an F106 bridge set at 10.5mm string spacing. Both pickup positions carried passive, ceramic-magnet Quantum humbuckers. All hardware was finished in cosmo black. The guitar left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL110s (.010–.046) in standard E tuning.
