Ibanez positioned the GRX70QATKS within the RG Gio series, a line designed to deliver the RG platform's fast-playing characteristics at an accessible tier. The guitar carried a quilted maple art grain top over a poplar body, paired with a maple neck and a bound purpleheart fretboard with white dot inlays across 22 medium frets.
Hardware was finished in chrome throughout. The T106 tremolo bridge provided vibrato functionality with a 10.5mm string spacing, set up from the factory in standard tuning with a .009–.042 string gauge. The 648mm (25.5") scale neck measured 42mm at the nut and 57mm at the 22nd fret, with a thickness of 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth, over a 305mm radius fretboard. Pickup configuration was a hum-single-hum arrangement: Infinity R ceramic passive humbuckers at the neck and bridge, and an Infinity RS ceramic passive single-coil in the middle position.
