Ibanez built the SRSC805DTF as part of the SR Workshop Series, a line that positioned the SR bass toward players seeking premium tonewoods and through-neck construction within the broader SR family. The five-string configuration and neck-through architecture placed it toward the upper end of the Workshop tier.
The bass was constructed with a five-piece Maple/Purpleheart neck running through an Okoume wing body, topped with Poplar Burl. The Purpleheart fretboard carried abalone oval inlays across 24 medium frets at a 305mm radius. Electronics consisted of a passive Bartolini MK-1 pickup at each position, fed into an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ. Hardware throughout was finished in black, anchored by an MR5 bridge with 18mm string spacing. The plastic nut measured 45mm wide; neck thickness ran 20.5mm at the first fret and 22.5mm at the twelfth. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario XL strings gauged .045/.065/.085/.105/.130 and tuned B–E–A–D–G.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including MR5 bridge components, Bartolini MK-1 pickup housings, or Purpleheart fretboard stock — should consult a qualified luthier or bass technician, who can also advise on setup adjustments suited to the 864mm/34" scale and 18mm string spacing.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
