Ibanez built the SR405EQMSKG as part of the SR (Soundgear) Series, positioning it as a five-string passive-pickup bass with active EQ. The model carried a Quilted Maple top over a Nyatoh body, paired with a five-piece Maple/Walnut neck and a Jatoba fretboard with white dot inlays — a combination characteristic of the SR line's approach to balancing tonal variety with playability.
Hardware ran in cosmo black throughout, anchored by an Accu-cast B305 bridge at a 16.5mm string spacing.
