Ibanez built the SR405EQMSLG as a five-string entry in the SR (Soundgear) Series, a line long associated with slim, fast-playing bass necks and lightweight construction aimed at players seeking an active-voiced instrument without the bulk of more traditional designs.
The neck is a five-piece Maple/Walnut laminate of the SR5 profile, joined to a Nyatoh body topped with Quilted Maple. The Jatoba fretboard carries white dot inlays and medium frets over a 305mm radius, with a nut width of 45mm tapering to 68mm at the 24th fret; neck thickness measures 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth. Scale length is 864mm (34 inches). Two PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups — passive, positioned at neck and bridge — feed an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ equipped with a 3-way Power Tap switch, which allows coil-configuration changes without additional active circuitry in the pickup itself. The Accu-cast B305 bridge is set to a 16.5mm string spacing. All hardware is finished in Cosmo black.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including bridge saddles compatible with the Accu-cast B305, PowerSpan Dual Coil pickup replacements, or Jatoba fretboard materials — should consult a qualified luthier or guitar technician who can verify dimensional fit against the instrument's current condition.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
